THE RESIDENCE ONFIVE AT GRAND HYATT JAKARTA

Finally after quite some time, Grand Hyatt officially re-launches The Residence ONFIVE for public! I attended the reopening party just earlier and here I am sharing my experience with you.
It’s funny that when I actually shared a collaged picture on my Instagram, so many of you thinks that it’s actually some kind of a buffet restaurant. Since it’s going to take me a little more effort to reply to you one by one on Instagram, let me spill it here: it’s NOT.

The Residence ONFIVE is actually a very exclusive private space and service which you can rent, book and occupy for basically every event you desire, especially the more exclusive and private ones, like private wedding parties, engagement parties, a corporate meeting, and even a dinner for two, or truthfully, basically anything, as long as you have the dime for it. The whole Residence ONFIVE was this spacious area, but they can totally fit your needs with your capacity.

I like their “residence” concept as the venue was designed to be very homey, and with that classy-elegant and minimalist feel to the whole ambiance. They occupy a 1000 sq m flexible event space with 800 people capacity for a gala or cocktails! There are four meeting rooms located in the “house”, each with 30 people capacity. They also have three main terraces, and for an even more private occasion, two cabanas are located just below - what they call – Terrace 2. I toured the cabanas and I saw that they would be perfect for private family gatherings & discreet meetings, while the terraces would be perfect for cocktail parties!

OK I started to sound like a marketing so let me just talk about the opening party! It was just like a land of guilty pleasure for me. I just had a very pleasant dinner featuring A LOT OF DESSERTS and what probably was THE BEST freaking Japanese beef I’ve found in town. Seriously so good I want to cry right now! If only I didn’t give a damn about those people waiting in line behind, I would have finished the beef by myself! Short to say, I had a very enjoyable dinner along with my foodie friends, so many people were packing the venue and it was a good night!

This is not a review post as I actually don’t have any idea what to review, I hope you enjoy the photos!

Thank you for reading!

AMBER SENOPATI ALL DAY BREAKFAST MENUS

Not too long ago, Amber Jakarta launched their all-day breakfast menus! The creations range from sweet to savory, and all guaranteed to be healthy and low calories. The all-day breakfast menus are now available all day, everyday in Amber’s Senopati outlet in South Jakarta.

Did a full review of Amber on a separated post, click HERE to read the post.

S A V O R Y
Avocado on Toast – IDR 85k
My personal favorite from their savory options: toasted bread topped with avocado puree, two poached eggs and avocado slices. I’m always okay with avocado, but never actually a big big fan, Amber clearly did a good job on the avocado seasoning. There’s this interesting hint of salty flavor mixed with the naturally neutral and sweet avocado flavor. The bread was crispy on the outer coating and soft as you went further to the center. The eggs were perfectly runny, I simply love the overall combination of the ingredients here, altogether enjoyable!

Cheese and Mushroom Omelette – IDR 95k
Amber’s homestyle omelette with cheese and Champignon mushroom filling, served with tomato-mozarella, bread, rocket salad with Thai-balsamic dressing and beef bacon on the side. The omelette was soft and creamy, with fluffy and pillow like texture!

S W E E T
Amber Nutella Pancake – IDR 65k
Oh no they didn’t! When there’s Nutella, there’s me drooling!!! This beautifully presented dish was another attention seeker from their sweet breakfast menu! The pancakes looked like an island floating on the Nutella sea, the combination was altogether sweet, but yet still very interesting and addicting, especially that Chantily cream topping which sort of the balancer of this dish. Avid chocolate fan would die for this: texture checked, flavor checked, and look...double checked!

Butterscotch Vanilla Waffle – IDR 65k
Amber’s homemade Butterscotch vanilla waffle topped with caramelized banana, strawberry and vanilla ice cream. The waffle was very fragrant with crunchy and fluffy texture, but the highlight was clearly the beautifully executed caramelized banana with that gooey texture and the sweet and tasty Butterscotch sauce. FYI as in BTW, Butterscotch tasted like the more fragrant and slightly more intensed caramel sauce.

Chia Pudding – IDR 65k
Again, beautiful presentation and one of the healthiest alternatives you can find here. Instead of “pudding”, this appeal more as a chia porridge for me, the chia was just very generous and loaded! The pudding was made from the mixture of fresh milk, cream &chia seed, and topped with fresh strawberries, banana, raisin, crunchy almond and altogether served with honey and toasts.

Croissant French Toast – IDR 60k
Now this is UNIQUE! I feel like lately croissant has been function as anything it has never been before, like croissant burger and stuff, if you’ve had croissant sandwich before, then Amber came with the fun and pretty croissant French toast with sauteed Butterscotch apple and strawberry filling, and ice cream & Chantily cream on the side. This was very enjoyable, and my personal favorite from their sweet breakfast menu! The croissant was fluffy and moist, not too buttery (which is good for me), the condiments were generous, and I like how the apple gave this additional crunch and a hint of sour flavor, but mostly fresh. DA YUM!
The posh breakfast menus were overall good with reasonable pricing, I’ll definitely come back for more, plus Amber itself is so pretty, the kind of place that I would be more than happy to show my friends from outside Indonesia and have my posh stylish lunch here! You should not miss!

TANG YUAN ASIAN DESSERTS JAKARTA

I acknowledge that dessert is currently THE BIGGEST F&B trend in town, the numbers keep on growing, so does the interest, It’s awesome that they always have that special place in our heart.

Tang Yuan Asian Dessert is a dessert house located in Tanjung Duren area, and it is one of those dessert houses specializing in Asian desserts, at their simply designed store, they offer quite a big range of hot and cold desserts, some of them are even very traditional, which is good. I don’t know why, but I love the fact that they choose to open in Tanjung Duren area, as normally that area’s filled with a lot of family restaurants (mostly Chinese restaurants). This place is easily noticeable as it’s located at the main Tanjung Duren road (at the hook), you can just Waze the location and they’ll take you there.

As a Chinese descent personality, I am pretty much familiar with “tang yuan”, by the way, the word “tang yuan” actually means “glutinous rice balls in a bowl”, and it is a traditional Chinese hot dessert with rather spicy soup made using ginger, perfect for cold days and fighting one. If you haven’t tried tang yuan before, rest assure as they have one here, and it’s like...very good!

Ginger Tang Yuan – IDR 20k
Fluffy rice balls with yummy peanut, mung bean and red bean filling!
Tried some of their other best selling desserts from each category, so let’s DIG IN!

Mellow Milo (IDR 20k), Mango Freeze (IDR 19k), Taro Milk Tea (IDR 20k), Matcha Milk Tea (IDR 20k)

Some of their best selling drinks! My personal favorite was their taro milk tea and my sister’s was their matcha milk tea, but generally the drinks were quite enjoyable! The milo drink had this rich and generous milo flavor to it and the mango freeze would be better with more hint of sour. Here you can adjust the sugar level just like most milk tea drink nowadays.

Matcha Milk Tea (IDR 20k)
Mellow Milo (IDR 20k)
Taro Milk Tea (IDR 20k)
Mango Freeze (IDR 19k)
Flan de Leche (caramel pudding) – IDR 17k
Their Flan de Leche or caramel pudding came in various shapes rolled everyday, the texture was very smooth, almost like the more solid version of custard and egg, but still pretty much fragile. The caramel sauce dressing was generous.

Mango Pudding – IDR 18k
Tasty and silky mango pudding topped with rum flavored sauce, pretty sure I haven’t experienced having mango flavored dish with rum sauce, expected the rum sauce to have this more intense flavor.

Mini Martabak (Gold (IDR 25k) and Silver)
The main difference between the gold, silver and platinum came from the topping. The “Gold” option allow you to choose two out of the available premium toppings such as Nutella, Oreo, Marshmallow, Skippy and caramel sauce. On the other hand, the “Silver” option allow you to opt for two out of the three regular toppings such as chocolate, cheese and nut, while topping like Ovomaltine is available if you purchase the platinum mini martabak.

The martabak craze seems never ending, at specifically, I think martabak is one of the most happening and trending dessert at the moment. Their martabak was moist & fluffy and rich in flavor. It’s a one simple guity pleasure that they offered in three different flavors: original, red velvet and pandan.
Add more fun to your martabak eating experience by adding one shot of Bailey’s!
Red Velvet Martabak with Skippy topping
The red velvet flavor was quite there, along with pretty much the same texture as mentioned.

Xing Fu (Milk) – IDR 38k
Xing Fu had this common Taiwanese dessert presentation that you can probably find elsewhere, so what exactly makes this dessert different from the others? The fact that I haven’t actually found a dessert with mung bean and black sticky rice (zimi) as a topping! Xing Fu consists of toppings such as: grass jelly, taro pudding, egg pudding, mochi, red bean, q balls, zimi and mung bean. Overall, this dessert was quite enjoyable, not too sweet, meant for sharing (for me).

Mango Sticky Rice Dessert – IDR 32k
The mango was so fresh and sweet, for me, when you talk about sticky rice dessert, mango should be the most important element, then followed with the sticky rice, as you can create good sticky rice by hand, but mostly nature and the good care controlled the beautiful mangoes. Once I had their mango, I didn’t have anything to care about XD. The sticky rice could be more solid and the idea of additional coconut ice cream topping was genius. YUM
Look at dem mango!
Nutella Honey Thick Toast – IDR 58k
Their take on honey toast was original, yet unique. If the common honey toast normally had this crunchier and more buttery bread, they kept things simple just by layering the breads and coated everything with honey glaze. Hey I don’t think there’s one particular Honey Toast rule! Technically this just couldn’t go wrong. Layers of breads with Nutella spread and topped with vanilla ice cream. Absolutety yummy!
Besides desserts, they also have various snacks and savory meals selections, such as: fried rice, tom yum noodle, finger food and many more, but I didn’t get the chance to try both of them as I was super full already, will be back soon! Good luck always, Tang Yuan Asian Desserts!
